A muscle with origin from the posterior surface of the tibia, the head and shaft of the fibula, and the posterior surface of the interosseous membrane; with insertion into the navicular, the three cuneiform, the cuboid, and the second, third, and fourth metatarsal bones; with nerve supply from the tibial nerve, and whose action causes the plantar flexion and inversion of the foot.
