Familial hyperlipoproteinemia characterized by increased serum concentrations of pre-low-density lipoproteins and triglycerides on a normal diet but normal concentrations of low-density lipoproteins, cholesterol, and phospholipids. It is marked by paroxysms of abdominal pain, abnormal glucose tolerance, and susceptibility to ischemic heart disease. Also called carbohydrate-induced hyperlipemia, endogenous hyperglyceridemia, familial hyperprebetalipoproteinemia, familial hypertriglyceridemia.
